Black Screen on Live TV/DVR
What Is Happening?
You see only a black screen when trying to watch Live TV or DVR Recordings on DISH Anywhere.
Why Is It Happening?
This issue often occurs when your internet speed is not fast enough to stream.
This issue may also be caused be a problem with DISH Anywhere or with the device you are using to watch content on DISH Anywhere.
How Do I Fix It?
Resolve this issue by completing the steps below:
Change the picture quality on DISH Anywhere
Try changing the video resolution to SD or SQ.
Check if another show experiences the same issue
Try selecting another show or recording to see if it experiences the same issue.
Relaunch the app or refresh the web page
If you are on a phone or tablet, close the DISH Anywhere app and then re-open it. If you are on a computer, refresh dishanywhere.com.
Reset your receiver
Unplug the power cord of your DISH receiver (typically has a red tag) from the electrical outlet for 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
The reset process may take up to 5 minutes to complete.
Restart your device
Restart the device you are using to access the internet (computer, phone, tablet, etc).
