Change the Channel

Change the channel by using a specific channel name or the channel number. Try saying:

“Alexa, tune to ESPN”
“Alexa, go to channel 300”

Search

Use your voice to look for a show, an actor, or genre. Find something specific with commands like:

“Alexa, search for The Big Bang Theory”
“Alexa, show me comedies”
“Alexa, find Tom Hanks movies”

After you retrieve your search results, use the remote to select or play the desired content.

Play a DVR Recording

If you have something recorded on your DVR, Alexa can play it for you. To play an event stored on your DVR, just say:

“Alexa, play Master Chef”

Transport Controls

For the ultimate hands-free experience, use Alexa to do things like fast-forward, rewind, play, pause, and more. Just say:

“Alexa, pause” or “Alexa, stop
“Alexa, play” or “Alexa, resume”
“Alexa, skip forward” or “Alexa, skip back”

Alexa will automatically skip back 10 seconds and skip forward 30 seconds, but you can specify how far to skip forward (up to a maximum of 3 minutes). “Alexa, skip forward 2 minutes.”
