Alexa Integration

With Amazon Alexa integration, you can now control functions on your Hopper, Joey, or Wally without having to pick up the remote. Follow the steps below to set up Alexa and begin using voice commands.

Let's get started: Select your remote

40.0 Remote

Alexa integration is only available on the Wally, Hopper 3, Hopper with Sling, or Hopper with our new user interface. Call 1-800-333-DISH to upgrade your receiver today.

40.0/50.0/52.0/54.0 Remote

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app on your smartphone and press the menu icon in the upper left corner. From here, select "Music, Video, & Books."

  2. Select dish

  3. Select ENABLE SKILL at the bottom of the screen

  4. Press the MENU button on your DISH remote.

    Note: If attempting to connect Alexa to a Joey, continue to perform the following setup steps from the Joey’s linked Hopper location, as Joey receivers do not have an Alexa icon in their on-screen menus.

  5. Press the HOME button on your DISH remote twice.

    Note: If attempting to connect Alexa to a Joey, continue to perform the following setup steps from the Joey’s linked Hopper location, as Joey receivers do not have an Alexa icon in their on-screen menus.

  6. Press the HOME button on your DISH remote twice.

    Note: If attempting to connect Alexa to a Joey, continue to perform the following setup steps from the Joey’s linked Hopper location, as Joey receivers do not have an Alexa icon in their on-screen menus.

  7. Press the HOME button on your DISH remote twice.

    Note: If attempting to connect Alexa to a Joey, continue to perform the following setup steps from the Joey’s linked Hopper location, as Joey receivers do not have an Alexa icon in their on-screen menus.

  8. Select Settings

  9. Select Amazon Alexa

  10. Select Get Code

  11. Enter the code shown on the screen into the Alexa app when prompted.

    Select Activate.

  12. Select Done on your TV screen, and click Continue in the Alexa App

  13. Select Done in the Alexa App and wait for Alexa to discover the DISH receiver

  14. Once your DISH receiver appears, select the one you want to link with Alexa from the list and click Continue

  15. Select the Amazon Alexa device you would like linked to this receiver and click Link Devices.

    Your DISH receiver and Alexa-enabled device are now paired, and you can use voice commands to control your DISH viewing experience.
