Moving with DISH
Moving can be stressful, but moving with DISH doesn’t have to be. Here’s what you need to know to make getting your TV service moved to your new address as easy as possible.
Step 1: Call us to set up your move
Give us a call at 800-333-DISH (800-333-3474). We’ll ask you for the following information, so make sure you have it ready to go:
- Your new address
- The date you want to have TV installed at your new address
- If you would prefer that we come in the morning or the afternoon
Will you have more TVs hooked up at your new home than you have at your current one? Do you want to take this opportunity to update your receivers to our latest technology?
Make sure to let us know when you call so we can set your appointment up properly and guarantee your technician arrives with exactly the equipment you’ll need.
Additional fees may apply when changing or adding receivers. Our customer service representatives can provide more information on your specific situation when you call.
Step 2: Take your DISH equipment from your current home to your new one
You’ll need your receivers and remote controls at your new home so we can get them re-installed. If you’ve decided to upgrade to new equipment, your technician will take the old receivers and remotes back with them so you don’t have to worry about returning or disposing of them.
Are you renting your current home? The terms of your lease might require that you remove your satellite dish from your current home. Review your contract or talk to your landlord/leasing office to find out what obligations you are under.
If it is safe to do so, unscrew the satellite dish and remove it. If you are not safely able to remove the satellite dish yourself, give us a call and we'll send out a technician to take care of it for you.
Step 3: Prepare your new home for your DISH appointment
In order to make sure your appointment goes smoothly, please have the following prepared prior to your technician’s arrival:
- Unpack your DISH receivers and remote controls
- Set up your TVs in the rooms where you will be connecting DISH service
- Set up your internet service so that we can connect your DISH receivers
- Make sure you or someone 18 years of age or older can be present for the entire appointment
- Secure any pets to avoid contact with the technician
Don’t think you’re going to have time to get everything set up beforehand? Our technicians can install your TV for you (either mounted on a wall or on a stand), set up your wireless network, hook up your sound system, and more. Just let us know what installation services you’re going to need when you call to set up your appointment so that we can accurately schedule your appointment time.
