What Is Happening?

The TV connected to your DISH receiver is displaying a black screen or a black screen with a DISH banner, but the Program Guide will display.

Why Is It Happening?

This problem is typically caused by the TV being on the wrong input, incorrectly connected cables or errors in the DISH receiver.

How Do I Fix It?

Resolve this issue by selecting your equipment then completing the steps that appear below.

Choose Your Receiver Family:

  1. Press the SAT button

    On your DISH remote, press and release the SAT button.

  2. Can you see the Channel Guide?

    On your DISH remote, press the Guide button.

    If you do not see the Channel Guide, follow the Black, Blue, or Snowy Screen troubleshooting steps.

  3. Try Standby Mode for 10 seconds

    On the DISH remote, press the power button. Let the Hopper stay powered off for 10 seconds, then turn it back on.

  4. Channel up and back down

    Press channel up on the DISH remote, then channel down.

  5. Reset your Hopper

    Unplug the power cord of your Hopper (typically has a red tag) from the electrical outlet for 10 seconds, then plug it back in.

    The reset process may take up to 5 minutes to complete.
