Phone Line Connection Not Working


modem failure
The phone line has no dial tone when the receiver is connected. The receiver is unable to use any modem related functions.

  1. Check Phone Line Configuration

    Check that the wiring between your DISH receiver and your phone source is configured properly using MY Dish/Setup Phone Line.

  2. Check that Other Phones have Dial Tone

    Check that other phones in your home have a dial tone when your DISH receiver is connected to a phone line.

  3. Check for Use of DSL Filters

    If DSL broadband service exists, check that there are DSL filters between each DISH receiver and phone jack.

  4. Check that Required Dial-Out Prefix is Stored

    Access "Phone System" - if you need "9" or anything else to dial out, confirm that itis entered under the "Outside Line Prefix"

  5. Reset Receiver

    If the issue is only on ONE receiver, unplug the DISH receiver for 10 seconds and plug back in.

    Please note: It may take up to 5 minutes for the reset process to be completed.

  6. Check the Receiver Phone Line has Dial Tone

    Check that your phone line has a dial tone by unplugging the phone line from the back of your DISH receiver and plugging it into a working phone.
