Parental Locks allow you to limit the programming that can be watched on your receiver. This enables you to ensure that the programming being watched is appropriate for your family.You can access this feature by navigating to the Menu on your Dish Network receiver and then entering the "Locks" menu.
Types of Parental Locks
Ratings
Ratings Locks allow you to prevent programming from being viewed based on the ratings given to them by either the MPAA or the TV Guidelines Monitoring board.

Channels
Channel Locks allow you to prevent specific channels from being viewed.
PPV
PPV Locks allow you to lock all PPV and VOD content from being viewed.
Other Lock Functions
Front Panel Lock
The Front Panel Lock option prevents the buttons on the front panel of your recevier from controlling your receiver.
Hide Locked
The Hide Locked option removes all locked channels, except for PPV and VOD channels, from your program guide.
Hide Adult
The Hide Adult option removes all adult channels from your program guide.
Change Password
This option allows you to change the password that you already have setup for your Parental Locks.
Note
- If you have a dual tuner, you must setup Parental Locks on both TV1 and TV2 to fully protect your system.
How To Use Ratings Locks

Select #1 Ratings Locks

Select the Movie, TV, or Expanded ratings that you would like to block. When selecting a Movie or TV rating, all higher ratings will also be blocked.

Select Lock System. If you do not lock your system then the changes that you have made will not take effect.

Enter a 4 digit Password and confirm it. Choose a password that is not easily guessed.
How To Use Channel Locks

Select the channels that you would like to block.
Note
- Blocking channel 1 or 501 (VOD) through Channel Locks will not effectively block these channels long term; they will become unblocked through system updates.

How To Use PPV Locks

Select Lock PPV. This will lock all PPV and VOD content, including adult. This will lock ordering both directly through the channel and through the customer support application.

How To Hide Adult

Select Hide Adult. This will hide all Adult channels. These channels will not show up in your guide and will appear as if they are missing as long as Hide Adult is set.

How To Verify your System is Locked

If unlock system can be seen on the Locks screen then your system is locked

To check if an individual program is locked press info on any channel from the program guide to see if the lock icon is open or closed.
